Philadelphia Zoo turtles do this a lot also, much to the amusement of the school children. Unfortunately, our turtles make some major groans in the process. Like, LOUD. Very. LOUD.

This was the San Diego Zoo ca. 1999. I think they WERE grunting or something. What really got me was how human the male looked. Like a bald barrel man.
