States have come up with some neat little quips to get people to slow down for work zones on freeways. “Slow for the cone zone” comes to mind. The Hoosier State has shunned the soft sell and gone straight for the I-double-dog-dare-you-to-speed-here school of prevention by serving up a $1,000 ticket. Starting July 1, the Indiana DOT can lower speed limits without previous any study in highway work zones. Then, they can send five-0 to the scene to make sure Joe Q. Driver isn’t trying anything funny, even if there aren’t any workers present. The first time Joe’s foot slips after he passes the 45 mph sign, it’s $300. The second infraction is $500. And if that doesn’t cure his wayward ways, then his gracious donation of $1,000 will gladly be accepted by the good state of Indiana. Oh yeah, and if he fights it and loses it’s another $70. Our favorite provision is the “aggressive driving” misdemeanor. If you drive 46 mph in a highway work zone and perform any aggressive action on a driver in front of you, such as flashing your headlights, and you get caught, you get a $5,000 fine that probably comes with its own Howitzer sound effects. If you do it again, the officer will apply a Rowdy Roddy Piper sleeper hold, then pin you to the mat with a $10,000 ticket, three years in jail, and a felony on your record. Don’t mess with

Indiana sucks. There are a total of half-a-dozen intelligent people in the entire god-damned state. My mother took my son and wouldn’t return him to me, and the genius police wouldn’t do a damned thing about it, because they seemed to think that it was a civil matter. Yeah, because kidnapping is usually resolved in civil court. And if I go to get him, then I get arrested for trespassing, because that’s obviously worse than kidnapping. If every cop in Indiana rubbed their brain cells together, they wouldn’t have enough spark to start a fire. Oh, and so much for seperation of church and state. A license plate that says, “In god we trust”? Sure, like god had ANYTHING to do with that state!
Indiana sucks because the whole state has 8000 jobs to offer and almost 90,000 people with no jobs. What kind of crap is that. Everyone says crime is up, I wander why, people cant get a get a job so they have to do something. What is really happening is all the damn illeagles coming in and stealing our jobs and homes from us. They don’t have to pay taxes (bull-shit), I think if you are an illeagle you should have to pay more taxes. As for the PO-lice do something honest for a change. You worry about a damn seat belt, worry about the people coming to this state and stealing my job and money. For example I watched a MEXI-CAN’T walk into the house across the street from me and the PO-lice said it wasn’t the first time he had been arrested for that. What the hell is this crap whole coming to. I’m embarassed to tell people where I live. Trust me if I could find a job to make some money I would save my money and move some where better than here!
Indiana is full of red neck idiots. I unfortunately grew up in that horrible state and left as soon as I was old enough. I still have family that live there and every time I visit them it is like driving into the twilight zone. The idiots that I attended high school with are still wearing the same concert t-shirts they wore in high school. This wouldn’t be that unusual if I had recently graduated high school, but I graduated back in the early 80′s.
There are a few intelligent people there, but I can’t understand why they choose to stay and surround themselves with such idiots. It has been an utter joy to see the Indiana University men’s basketball team decomposing from getting caught cheating. The school has been cheating for decades, and now it finally got caught doing so. IU basketball is all most of the idiots in Indiana have to live for in their lives. Idiots everywhere have closets full of IU apparel, yet nobody they know attended the school. The funny thing is that IU isn’t that great of an academic school, yet most of the people from Indiana hold it in the same regards as Harvard.
They can all go to hell, for all I care. They are the absolute dumbest people on the planet
I live in Indiana and am unemployed. I have a B.S. in Information Technology and was let go due to “performance”, but in the end, it was because I hated the job so much that I didn’t really give a damn if I kept it or not. Regardless, I was looking for another job throughout, and ya know what? Indiana has nothing worth applying for.
Everything ranges from 8 years of experience in this, that or whatnot or else, it pertains to some God-awful technology that the most elite computer nerd can’t even stand. I guess what I’m saying here is that the job market sucks ass in this state. It’s horrible. …Which is why I’m going back to school to be a therapist!

Oh yea, sorry about the spelling! Dont blame me I got my learnin at Indiana University. However I did recently stay at a Holiday Inn so I am now equipt to be Vice Presedent.
Oh, the joys of running a small business in Indiana! A few years ago, most of the States in the Union adopted something called the Streamlined Sales Tax. That is where all the participating States would collect the same rate (6%) on sales, different things were changed as taxable or non-taxable. You should have seen all of the ridiculous exclusions and stuff. I wrote the Governor and asked who were the rocket scientists that came up with that? A lame reply came back, however I was audited a few months later. Anyway, the gad damn idiots in the State sent out notice of the Streamlined Sales Tax… ready for this?…. TWO WEEKS AFTER THE FACT! So, a number of businesses had to pony up and pay out of their own pocket. We business owners could have filed a class action law suit against the State and won, but why? What would we get out of it except future misery from the State asses. So, we pulled out the K-Y, and administered yet another blessing from Indiana.
The rocket scientists in charge of the State bureaucratic bungling seems to think that everybody can keep them own selves updated on new rules the State creates by reading through their quagmire of a web site. GOD HELP YOU IF YOU MISS SOMETHING! For God sakes, the CPA’s don’t even do that and THEY are the professionals. Small business people are too busy keeping the boat afloat, and damn lucky to get a Sunday off to ourselves… Oh yes, the State REFUSES to send out email notices when they change stuff.
Going back to the illegal and immoral two weeks after the fact Streamlined sales tax notice…. They figured out pretty quick that people didn’t know, and the State of Indiana wanted their money. So Indiana broke their own code of silence and mailed it out.
IF I were to hit the Indiana Lotto, you can rest assured that every single jackpot dollar will leave this State when I go.
Indiana sucks because the roads are shit, the drivers are the most aggressive pieces of trash in the world, its industrial and ugly in some parts, toothless in others, the winters are slush (not beautiful blankets of snow), the fall is really summer, and the summer is really Dante’s Inferno. The spring is decent, if you count 100% humidity as decent. The grocery stores have shit produce, the people aren’t nice, there are nothing but chain restaurants everywhere you go, there’s no decent culture anywhere except wineries and prairie re-enactments, there are absolutely no decent jobs anywhere, there are big awful trucks all over the road CONSTANTLY, there is neverending construction, MARTINSVILLE – need I say more?
Indiana sucks!. I was stuck there for 2 years. The worst two years of my life. Rednecks, rude people, screwed up state government, flat ugly land with run down abondoned buildings ( I lived in Charlestown – arm pit of the U.S.). The weather was awful – extreme heat, humidity and then cold. About 14 days of nice weather per year. I would have had to hang myself if I lived there any longer.
Moved to Indianapolis in 2001, which wasn’t too bad (murders and crime aside) considering it is Indiana. Then I really fucked up by moving to Terre Haute, right on the border. What a fucking dump of a town. Probably the most corrupt town in the state and surely the most corrupt of all places I’ve lived so far. Terre Haute supposedly means “Higher Ground”. Deeper searching finds it’s a loose translation for “shit hole”. I think it’s far from loose…. more like dead on. The town sucks, the people look and act like imbreds and meth is the common staple for most. The county crooks made sure we would pay higher taxes for nearly everything… in a state with NO REAL jobs. I lived in Missouri (not much better) most of my life and when I left there i was used to earning 35-45k a year. My first three years in Indiana I made at most $7 an hour for the same type of work. Now thankfully I’m self-employed, making my living 100% online so I don’t have to bend over and take the minimum wage dick in the ass. Also, I wasn’t this nasty or bitter until moving here. The only cool thing that’s come out of living in this real life hell is two years ago a guy (off duty cop – I didn’t know – he didn’t say so) ran his mouth at me, decided to swing at me so I put him down hard. They tried getting me for assaulting a police officer and all the bs. I got a good lawyer, beat the scam and had the state pay me some jack. I invested the money in matters outside of this state. I won’t even by a car here. I give htem as little as possible of my income. Oh and the towns slogan is “A Cut Above”, implying they are better than other towns, cities or whatever. Do NOT move to Terre Haute for any reason. It’s full of corruption, horrible schools, shitty roads, high taxes, price gouging, slumville neighborhoods and people that should be in institutions, not on the street. The cops here are true to life pigs that love to peer into your windows with flashlights, steal pot from school kids, smoke it themselves in alleys and then go beat down someone before their shift is up. Oh and apparently brothels are legal here…. there are three of them and they’ve been in business for years. So if you want to sell sex or drugs, this is your town. Otherwise, do yourself a favor and stay the hell away from this place. Even Indianapolis did a write up in their newspaper stating basically everything I’ve wrote here. This place stinks too… some paper mill that year after year pumps out this noxious gas that permeates EVERYTHING for miles. Come to find out, cancer deaths are way above national average…. wonder why? Fuck you Terre Haute. You’re a cut above a stinking pile of dog shit and that’s about it.

The wannabe Police officer’s who don’t know a physical exam requirement when they see one, fucking obese sacks of shit. They’ll throw you to the ground and ignore all direction from a medical professional, strip you without cause, and then act like it never happened and cover their cohorts asses like it was ok leaving you with such a mental scar and mind fuck. Next, they’ll act big and bad as if you were the next biggest wanted person on the 10 most wanted list and exert so much pent up anger on YOU when you didn’t do a single damn thing. That’s alright though because they’ll go on thinking they’re above the law and sooner or later they’ll get what’s coming because what goes around comes around. I for one am a good person who genuinely cares for people and know what the hell a just cause is, but the moment they see something THEY don’t like, not even the law, they’ll bend and twist it to conform to something that appears as if the person was a fucking criminal. You are just the same person day in and day out they see whether you’re a meth-head or an A+ college student who happens to be in the wrong place, at the wrong time.
The mayors and state administration are right up there with them. A 20 year old massage therapy major college student had more time spent on persuing him rather than meth users because of a case with medication under the name “Ambien” that caused him to sleepwalk. He wasn’t driving, didn’t hurt anyone, but panicked when he awoke and they then slapped charges on the poor soul when he thought he was being attacked and struck a paramedic UPON awakening. What the fuck is that?? The kids been beaten up before and harassed because he’s gay, so they then arrest him and take him to jail where they stripped him mid-november and left him in a freezing cynderblock cell for 48 hours?? I have a BIG problem with that. How unjustly.
2nd, a Vietnam veteran was denied a handicap sign in front of his home because he had a driveway. The problem was, the driveway was further than the people denying him realized causing him extreme pain with his joints when all he wanted was to be able to park his car outside his home so there wasn’t such a walk. Asking such a small thing for someone who gave so much and getting denied? THAT’S the true spirit of Indiana. There wasn’t any other reason to deny him because it wasn’t posing a problem. How pathetic.

Alright, huh, I sit here reading this in the atrium of my 8200 sq. ft home, enjoying the fresh smell of chlorine in my indoor pool. I live in Terre Haute. Grew up here. I have a 4 year degree which I was able to earn and pay for while working at one of those “industrial armpits”. I started a business here that now thrives. I have 2 healthy children in good, award winning public schools.
On weekends, it depending on what ime of year it is, there are many choices of things to do, great bars, decent restaurants, good friends and parties everywhere. Weekends can be spent at any number of lakes during the summer, partying in coves, cliff jumping, loud music, and lots of cold beer.
The meth heads are a consideration. Unless you are a bottom feeder or work at the jail, you will likely see very few of these people. The crime rate is not bad. The roads are not bad. NOW, at least in Terre Haute, criminally insane politcians consume any available tax dollar that is not spoken for, I can agree with that.
Now, comparatively, apparently the posters on this site have NEVER left Indiana, or they must have moved to some utopian locale. Drive to Cairo, il. HOPE left that city 30 years ago. There is NOTHING. There are residents there that have never left the town and didnt know that they could, its a travesty. Cross the bridge South. Welcome to the middle south, the most economically bleak and culturally devoid region of our country. Arteries exist in this area that will allow you to drive almost to Mobile without seeing a viable employer….where talking almost an entire time zone of dispare. Travel to this area….then come back here and report your findings.

I don’t know about everyone enjoying the same activities you listed, but I can’t tell whether or not you lean more towards how bleak certain areas can be or if you are trying to just keep a positive note considering these disparaged areas. If the latter, then that’s commendable as it’s difficult to really stay anywhere near sane at times.
As for never leaving Indiana or moving, I can safely say I’ve grown up traveling overseas for years (Europe, Asia, Africa, etc). I currently reside in a tourist city on one of the great lakes; so, I can also say having experienced quite a few places that, although it may not be the place for everyone, it certainly is a backward state to some. (Yes, some places are worse, I know. I’m just stating personally though)
Indiana definitely sucks. Joe, the happy poster above, obviously has been sniffing too much chlorine in his “mansion”. Typical of hoosier mentality, he can’t see beyond his own limited perspective to consider what might not be so great for others. I have definitely seen more meth heads (and crack heads, and many other types of drug abusers) than I have seen wealthy people – or even smart people, in this miserable state. Joe suggests that unless you are a bum, you will have no problem here in Indiana – that’s a lie. I am a tenured professor at DePauw University, one of the top 40 liberal arts colleges in the usa – so, I’m not exactly “a bottom feeder.” I have lived in many places, and visited many, many others (in the usa and abroad). I have been here for ten years, and it is by far the worst, most polluted, most corrupt places I have ever lived or visited.
So, here is what sucks about Indiana. No one knows how to drive – they drive slow in the left lane, pass on the right, never use signals, believe they are in the indy 500, have slow reaction times to lights, stop instead of yield, pull out in front of other cars, etc. There are no inspection or emission laws, so people are driving around anything that moves, so do not be surprised to follow someone who has their car held together with bungy cords, tape, etc. If one of these dregs hits you, assume they have no insurance. Everyone is a libertarian, and they can’t understand that paying taxes directly relates to the level of social services – hence, roads suck, sidewalks suck, and only 5 towns in the entire state offer curbside recycling. Roads are never plowed effectively. Schools are generally the worst, unless you are lucky (like joe) to be able to afford to live in the most wealthy towns (which is about 1% of the people, so I wouldn’t trust joe’s opinion to represent most of us).
There is a phrase here that is commonly uttered – “hoosier hospitality.” What a joke. By and large, these toothless rednecks are the rudest, most inconsiderate people I have ever encountered. Go into a store and try to have the cashier say hello or even acknowledge that you are standing there. Basic decency – things like saying excuse me, or please – are unheard of here. They are distrusting of anyone who was not raised in a barn in Indiana like them, so if you happen to move from out of state, everyone will stare at you everywhere you go (and they will be breathing out of their mouth while they do so).
Confederate flags are everywhere, and so I don’t think they are aware that they were actually a northern state. I have always been confused by these – often, there will be a confederate flag and a usa flag on the same car!! I guess those people aren’t aware that the point of the confederacy was to eliminate the union through terrorism. These people do not believe they are racists, either. If you ask them (which I have), they have a common response about “preserving southern history.” Um, that’s called racism.
Food? If you like chains, you’re set. If you don’t, there is not a decent place to eat in any major city (excepting maybe bloomington). Hoosier delicacies include anything deep-fried (including twinkies), and pork tenderloin sanderwiches (also fried). Oh, and speaking of pork – there isn’t a clean river or stream in the state due to the nasty ass hog farms that are everywhere, that stink and enjoy no regulation from the moron legislature. Since moving to this agricultural state, I have learned to never eat meat or produce grown by commercial growers, as it is all poisoned by corporate ag practicies that are not about human health, but all about corporate greed and profit. Anyone who enjoys a good steak should check out a commercial feed-lot here. I recommend looking for a small local producer, instead, but indiana has been careful to nearly regulate them out of business (lawmakers here use a formula; big farms = good and small farms = bad).
I could go on about bible-beaters, obesity, the lack of culture (excepting the children’s museum, which is supported by private donors and is an exception rather than the norm), giant trucks (driven by men with the smallest penises ever), and more, but I have already wasted more time than the state is worth.
Oh, and anytime anyone offers an opinion that differs from the status-quo, some hick will be quick to say, “if you don’t like it here, why don’t you leave.” Personally, I am as soon as this academic year is over, since I have finally finished my time in hell.
And, finally, ditto to everything said above about the police in this state. They themselves are law-breakers, and could care less about helping the public. They think they are cowboys.

With everything you’ve said, I’m sure I’m not the only one to say I agree. Surprising though coming from a professor as Indiana boasts it’s education system. I had scholarships and full rides that I never finished using because I left that state, and I’ve never been happier since. Most would kill to have the scholarships, yet they can’t quite understand why I don’t go back. Why should I go back when the cons outweigh the pros? It isn’t for me! If I could give them to these people who just are so surprised, I would to shut them up! Besides, I was the one who earned them. I’m well on my way to medical school, and I definitely wouldn’t be able to say I was had I stayed in Indiana. It just wasn’t the place for me, and if it wasn’t for some people I loved being there, I would have nothing to do with the place. “Love it, or leave it?” You can have it, lol. Please, take it!

I’ve lived in St. Louis, Cincy and currently Indy, and yeah, the states of MO, OH and IN suck balls in the majority of areas. I live in south Broad Ripple and enjoy myself by reading, listening to music, hanging out with friends and occasionally hitting the Alley Cat for a drink. Here’s a theory you can disregard, most states really suck. IN is no exception, although I will ask, where are a lot of you people visiting/living in this state? I keep reading “toothless hicks” and “confederate flags” throughout the posts, be wise in picking an area in Indiana to hang out in. Back to my theory which is steeped deeply in cynasism, finding a diverse, interesting, satisfying place to live in america today is impossible, unless you are a money driven douchebag. I would love to live in San Francisco, Seattle, Boston…etc., but who can afford that? Gentrification is the dirty culprit and compromise is the only answer. Anyway, maybe I can keep saving money and someday be able to rent a studio in Chicago.

An Indiana woman was taking her father to the hospital suffering from a HEART ATTACK and pulled over by a county cop. He didn’t care WHY, only that she exceeded the speed limit by 12 MPH. After LENGTHLY argument as to WHY, the lady was promptly TAZED by the officer and then TAZED again when she tried to explain her father was dying! The Indiana cop just plain didn’t care! She was beaten, then TAZED again! All caught on the officers in-car camera!
All was justified by the court (Tippecanoe County) and the lady is serving 6 months in custody of TIPPECANOE COUNTY, simply because she was trying to save her father! Her father, fortunately, survived beacause another passer-by aided in the event! The officer didn’t even bother with the father’s well being! He didn’t CARE!

For the sake of those who think “that’s just one officer out of how many?” I will say that one bad apple does spoil the bunch. However, the damn bunch is then spoiled, so why defend what police do wrong then? It’s not that people posting in this topic have a mentality of “they’re all out to get me,” it’s that they really are just that bad. It’s no wonder they take an affront to someone who doesn’t agree that Indiana isn’t God’s holy land itself. You can respect someone, which they don’t, but you don’t have to agree with them. This topic was also made and titled as “Why Indiana Sucks…” I’m not one to expand or elaborate on the negative, but that is all you get with Indiana. That isn’t an over-exaggeration either. By the way, as I write this, my partner reminded me of the only incident of a person driving off after filling their car up with gas. Where did this happen? Terre Haute. I know this isn’t the only time or place someone in the entire U.S.A has done this. The person who wrote about Terre Haute pretty much summed it up and the entire state of Indiana.
Ever since reading about cases such as the message therapist student I can’t help but be disturbed by those with a mob mentality of “hang em’ high!” when they don’t know all the details. They only take what details were given to them in the first place, i.e. the news. What is most sad are the ones who defend the the police or ones who are in the wrong and break the law themselves. As one person put it they play cowboy. One such example of people who fall prey to Indiana and its way of thinking unfortunately are the ones who tend to hold higher positions as well. I remember going into a hospital full of people who stayed in the same city that I was living and worked as nurses. I knew from my education what they could or could not do according to standards and procedures. Well, after being discharged after an accident I had been in (which the red neck later came back after we both agreed to take care of any damages that may have been caused by him hitting me. I didn’t want to even bother with it as it was only minor, but he then came back to try and get me to pay for his damages because of how his trucks bed door wouldn’t go down! He didn’t succeed though as his fender went UP when it would’ve gone DOWN had things happened the way he described them), I had seen only days later the same nurse who had taken care of me talking about my incident with me in public when I was only there to help her (I was a sales associate). Did she think it was OK to do so even though it was a small town? I have no clue, but being in such a place probably lead her to believe that it was alright. Most people in these positions tend to have this idea that it’s fine to act unprofessional when it really isn’t.
Anyhow, from the posts given prior by many one can pretty much arrive at their own conclusions. It may be a good fit for some to live in Indiana, but it wasn’t for me or the others who apparently felt the same way. So, this isn’t a crusade against Indiana or to offend those who feel Indiana really is all that and a bag of chips. It’s just backwards and has its problems just more so than others. It’s my opinion (or fact as others have too felt the same way), so to interpret these comments as offensive or otherwise just flat out negative would say that those who are offended are probably the ones who cause the problem(s). Again, emphasis on that it’s not a “the worlds out to get me!” matter.
Indiana is the asshole of the World. I have been to every state and several other countries – Indiana is the most backward of any place I have ever visited. When it comes to technology in the work place it is like stepping back into the 1940′s, literally.
The industrial earth-moving equipment plant I worked at had never heard of any of the equipment and tooling made after 1948.
In fact their most modern communication system was not even the Internet – it was the “Teletype”. I am serious.
The mentality of the average person I met in Indiana was about like an 8 year old. They made fun of Kentuckians there as if they were some sort of sub-human species. The fact of the matter is I saw very little difference between a mentally retarded Kentucky hillbilly and the average Indiana citizen.
Of all the places I have ever been in my life I have never seen anything that compares to the red-neck hillbilly mentality that is so wide spreadin Indiana.

This state is a nightmare from which i can not wake. Business owners are deceptive, greedy, mentally abusive and Feudal-Lordlike in nature. This is the same for Landlords, law enforcement and local government administrators.
I lived in Cincinnati Ohio for 7 months of last year. It was like stepping into paradise! Imagine that Cincinnati Ohio: Paradise ? For real. Indianapolis may appear clean and well kept, but there are no souls behind the eyes of people calling the shots here! This place is a fucking meat grinder, working hard here will only frustrate you as no one gives a shit. Everybody keeps referencing the south when it comes to worse places, well Indiana is the south of the north then because it FUCKING SUCKS. I am currently saving money to get to beautiful liberal, community-oriented, opportunity FILLED Cincinnati Ohio! I used to love Indiana and dont get me wrong there are still some pretty spots here but unless you grew up here and transitioned into adult established life with the help of an insider and /or a pre-destined job you are fucked! Especially if you like ANYTHING that is not worshiping God, beating up weak people or hating other cultures. Honestly I really haven’t even met many corn farmers that actually like growing things. It’s all just $ to them and they have shat all over Indiana’s wildlife to get it. I’m getting the fuck out of this $5.55 an hour HELL as soon as I fucking can! I’ve watched over the years some of the coolest people follow suit into this “asshole-hick” role – eventually you have no choice, its like the entire state is a jail and you have to act hard or they will just push you down ……down…..and just keep pushing until you are no more.

Golly, I am sorry to hear of the tough times the recent post has expressed, I have been so low at one point in my life that there was nothing to eat but dog food…. That was a sucky way to beat back the hunger pangs. Minimum wage is really for high school kids establishing a solid work reference for their future while earning a few bucks to take a girl out on a date. Minimum wage is not for someone trying to support themselves. There IS a better life and future for everyone….. If they seek it. The preamble to the constitution stipulates we have the right for the PURSUIT of happiness, it is not a guarantee as the liberals are portraying it to be within their socialist agenda. Just a quick comment. There is at least one grade school in Indiana (the norhtwest portion) that has had it accreditation revoked. And they still make kids go to school there. How sad is it when a school can’t even live up to “no child left behind”? Good lord, how can an educational institute be dumber than GW, and not be burned to the ground amidst cheering throngs of literatii?
I moved to Indiana in Early 2007 from the East Coast. I was there for 6 Months and i must tell you those were the worst 6months of my life ever. The only good thing i can say that came of out being in Indiana was the fact that i got to see Chicago and also made a very special friend. I do not recommend anyone ever going there for a job or for any reason. My mother still lives there and she is almost 57 and by herself. I will not sacrifice the world to go live in Indiana because my mother chose to go there. Hell no!!
Indiana is a great state. I lot of people are into illegal activities and so they hate indiana because people in indiana have morals and still believe in God. Indiana is a hard working state that still values christ and the lord and things that are moral. IF you hate indiana you havent been anywhere yet. Ilive in the research triangle. I totally agree. I lived in North Carolina as well. It is a horrible state. The people in north carolina hate light skinned blacks. I am a biracial black male. They always called me high yella and said i was stuck up for no reason just because a 100 years ago on some dammed plantation light skinned blacks supposedly had more rights than darkskinned blacks. Also a lot of the people there that you think are white are white people who have black blood or a black ancestor. You can see it becaue they are not blonde and blue eyed with straight features like in Indiana. Indiana ain’t so bad, if you like going to your family reunion to get laid. Otherwise stay the fuck away from this god-forsaken wretched cesspool.
Indiana passed a real estate reform law. It took a great deal of time for the counties to get their act together.
However, I did get a real estate tax rebate check from escrow for over a grand. Looks like the taxes were cut in half for me. Indiana does not stand before big brother Obama with our hat in our hands while blinking tears back from big sorrowful eyes. That is what the liberal states are for, like Michigan and California.
I’m going to rant a little here. It’s nothing directed at anyone here personally.

Let’s all just set back, take a breath and reconcider what we are actually saying to each other here. These are actual human beings we are saying this stuff to.
Sure, allot of us have seen allot of the world and we have made out own personal judgements of what we’ve seen. Although my personal preference would not be to live in certain regions if I were given my choice. Many people have to do what they can with what they have.
Hear me out before slamming anyone – There are allot of us these days who are suffering hard times. Not just hard times, but extreme, insurmountable hard times up to including being pushed to the verge of suicide, due to that feeling of helplessness and hopelessness. I’ve been around a while and the times we are living in are worse than I could ever have imagined. If you’re not there yet, you more than likely will be sooner than you think.
Many of this being pushed to the verge is all due to the unfare/illegal collection practices of sleazy Junk Debt Buyers who are suing people for debts that have long since been charged off by creditors. Every day these sleazy collectors are abusing our court system for the sole purpose of making your life a living Hell. The sad part is, the loopholes in our legal system allow it. Today, living in poverty and being poor has become a big bsiness for sleazy junk Debt Buyers. Now just hold your horses – I know this is a forum about what people think of Indiana. However it has turned into a forum of hate and disgust as many here have blamed an entire region of people for their lot in life.
There are also millions of us all accross America in every single state who have had our trust taken advantage of by sleezy mortgage companies. Those sleazy mortage companies who lied to us all about the terms of refinancing under the Arm type refinancing. Those sleazy mortage companies have doubled millions of home owners payments overnight. This has forced many people all accross America out of their homes and into the streets. YOU could be next, so don’t set back and smuggly judge so harshly. NONE of us are exempt from being screwed over by sleazy collectors and sleazy so-called lawyers today … NONE of us are exempt.
Mortage companies are getting away with these illegal practices even after they have accepted billions upon dollars in Government bailouts. Now they set back and smuggly make their victims out to be total idiots. And why? Simply because mortgage companies dangled the bait in front of the faces of millions and millions of trusting families, they lied to us and ripped us off.
And why? It’s simply because we are not all lawyers who can fully understand the terms of the mortage companies 15 page fine print Arm loan scam Terms. Even if you can afford to keep your home after your mortgage company doubled your payment, many Arm loans can and will charge you a fee of 110% of that present value of your home at the time you pay it off 30 years down the road.
So if you have an Arm loan, good luck. Good luck even trying to get out of it because these re-fi modifications are mostly scams also. Few people are even getting them re-modified anayway, no matter whay you’ve been told. It’s a very small percentage of people who are actually having their Arm loans modified. They’ll put you off until you are no longer leagally allowed to qualify for a modification. If you just walk away from it, some slezeball lawyer/collection agency will track you down and sue you. then they’ll garnish your wages and strip your bank account dry. If I were you and you’re in this situation, go right now and take all your money out of your bank account now before the collectots seize it.
Sleazt collectors are doing it and getting away with it, even if you are collecting Social Security Disability and having it direct depostited. A collector can seize all the money in you bank account even if it is Social Security Disability because it is “liquid” in your bank account. The collector cannot garnish your social Seucrity checks, but they can garnish the money if you deposit it in your bank. Go now and take it out and have your checks mailed to a PO BOX. Sure it’s a little hassle each month but it will let you keep the money from your checks.
Again, I realize the frum is to talk about the state of Indiana. It’s turned into slamming and hating. Again – We all need to set back and think about the everyday living situations we are ALL facing. It’s BAD ENOUGH! Let’s stop slamming each other just for the sake of making ourselves feel a little more superior than someone else, simply becausde we have a keyboard to hide behind. I’d bet nobody here would speak so harshly as the things they’ve said on here if you were face to face with that other person. There are enough sleazy people out there to do that … and they do. Let the a-holes be the a-holes.
More and more as each day goes by, many of us on this forum right here and outside the forums here are having a harder time. Many of us are having an impossible time making ends meet than any time in our lives. The national unemployment rate rises higher every single day. A few days ago I the news reported our national unemployment rate was 9.6%, another news source a few days later reported 9.8% and would soon reach 10%.
I am getting sick and tired of hearing so many well-to-do self righteous people who smuggly set back and make their judgements. It’s only because they have been lucky enough or fortunate enough to have not YET been as harshly effected as everyone else is. I believe we have ALL been guilty of these types of judements at some point … that is, until we are humbled ourselves in our harsh judgements.

I have to agree that Indiana sucks. I moved here from New Jersey 5 years ago and it’s been an absolute living hell. I have met some nice people but some very strange ones too. They do not take kindly to outsiders either. There is no diversity and Hoosiers have no sense of what the rest of the world is like. They live in a little bubble. The people are not that friendly, 2 out of every 4 people is obese, the roads suck, the semi-truck traffic is horrible, it’s boring as hell, it’s too flat, every restaurant is a chain, they always drive slow in the left lane, etc. I could go on and on about how much it sucks here. Everyone that has visited me says the same thing. I am finally leaving at the end of the year because I cannot take this place anymore. This has been pretty much the worst living experience of my young life. I will never set foot in this state as long as I live. Good Riddance Indiana!
