CMU Bastards steal a win

KALAMAZOO, Mich. (AP) – Quarterback Dan LeFevour scored on a keeper from 1-yard out with 12 seconds left, giving Central Michigan a 34-31 victory Tuesday night over Western Michigan, clinching the Mid-American Conference West title.

The Chippewas (6-4, 5-0 MAC) hadn’t won at WMU since 1993.

Prime Time national TV comes to Kalamazoo.  At least we did not completely step on our collective dicks.  Especially the cheerleaders, because that would just be weird.

  1. JB says:

You mention Uzelac in this piece – how do you know him?

  2. Dr. Gonzo says:

Don’t know him. Watched him work a few times, though. Uzelac (we used to call him Elliot “lose a lot”) used to be the FB coach at Western. Western never got this kind of TV exposure in his day, but I suspect defeat snatched from the jaws of victory, especially to CMU is a feeling with which he is eminently familiar.

  3. Tim Allen says:

Western got boned. The Broncos stopped LeFevour, but then his running back and tight end pushed him into the end zone. This was very similar to Reggie Bush pushing that pretty boy drunk Leinart into the endzone in South Bend in 2005.

The refs completely ignored this when reviewing the replay. The ESPN announcers missed it too, because they wanted to pick up loose Western chicks at Waldo’s. Can’t blame them for that. But the ESPN basketball guys ackowledged the “non-call” as they tried to confort John Saunders, who was inconsolable, as was I. Western got pimped against Akron as well. http://youtube.com/watch?v=e3qLzuQ0UBk

I don’t believe Elliot is crying about anything right now

Good for the old man. He seemed out of his depth as a HC at a university, but seems to have found his niche kicking my old high schools ass every year.

  6. Tim Lankerd says:

I agree with Mr. Allen on all accounts and I played for Eloitfor four years 78-82 and knew a few people that knew Tim. Then Western beats Iowa and looks like they could beat Temple. Those two rob jobs coould have cost them big time. Referees blew it.

  7. Dr. Gonzo says:

Of all the weeks not to follow the Broncos…

  8. Matt Meares says:

Brought back a special memory of watching a so-called “chip shot” travelling up the tunnel. Listening to Bentley struggle to sound objective while he was creaming his pants in the booth made me puke.

So what’s a second rate long snapper up to nowadays anyway?
