Suspect in beer-run shot by Phoenix police

A Phoenix police officer early Friday shot and wounded a man in south Phoenix who apparently had pulled a beer run a short time earlier.
Police spokesman Sgt. Andy Hill said police were responding to a call around 6:40 a.m. of an armed man stealing beer and fleeing the store. An officer confronted the fleeing man near 17th Avenue and Maldonado Road, around Baseline Road, and shot him during a confrontation, Hilll said..
The suspect, whose name was not immediately available, reportedly crash his vehicle into a concrete wall after the shooting and was taken to a local hospital. The unidentified officer was not injured.
