Police: Sleeping man blocked road with car

The Arizona RepublicA 35-year-old man was arrested after police found him slumped over the steering wheel of his vehicle, which had three open cans of beer and was blocking a major road, according to a report. Mesa police found Rodriguez Martinez about 3 a.m. Sunday asleep in his vehicle, which was in the 400 block of North Mesa Drive, police said. Martinez had urinated on himself and woke up as an officer was turning off the vehicle’s ignition, according to a report. Martinez told to the officer that he wanted a taxi to go home, according to police reports. While speaking with police, Martinez gave several false identities, urinated on himself a second time and refused to cooperate with field-sobriety tests, according to police. Police noticed the vehicle after two driver slammed on their brakes and to avoid hitting it. Martinez has four prior arrests and two convictions for driving under the influence, police said. Martinez was booked on aggravated DUI, false reporting to law enforcement, possession of an open container of liquor and obstructing a highway.
